CHINATOWN

DISCOVER A UNIQUE NEIGHBORHOOD

Come and discover the Asian quarter of the 13th arrondissement of Paris. This visit more than just a walk, it is a true immersion in the culture and atmosphere of Southeast Asia. Although nicknamed “Chinatown”, this district is rather inhabited by populations from Southeast such as Asia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam….

The largest Asian district in Europe, you will discover several hidden Buddhist temples, of which your guide will detail their particularities. We will then discuss in more detail Buddhism and the different deities and rites that make up this particular ideology.

We will also explore the ways these populations are living, many of whom arrived in rather precarious ways at the end of the 1970s. A real trip in the heart of Asian culture, this visit led by Ivan Denat will brighten your perspective.

During the rest of the visit, we will discuss the history of this part of the XIIIth arrondissement of Paris and all the industries and activities that were established in this popular district of the capital. We will discover the magnificent converted vestiges of the Panhard and Levassor factory, famous for having assembled the first car in the world in 1891!

At the end of the visit, we will have the privilege of attending the services of one of the only Christian Chinese communities in Paris. The whole visit will be led by your guide Ivan Denat who will make you relive the past and the present of this district so special in Paris.
